FESTFU students at the "Young Professionals" Championship

A milestone event for the fishing industry this year was the joining of the industry-oriented educational institutions of secondary vocational education to the all-Russian movement "Young Professionals" (WorldSkills Russia), which marked the consolidation of the idea of transferring fishery education to practice-oriented approaches in training students on the base of colleges and schools. 

On November 23, the Championship was launched and students of the branches and separate divisions of FESTFU took part in such professional competencies as "Processing of aquatic biological resources", "Cultivation of fish seed and marketable fish", "Coastal fishing". The competition was held in real production conditions, on the basis of existing sites and with the support of production sites of partners of the Far Eastern State Technical Fisheries University: Dobroflot Group of Companies, Primorsky Branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Glavrybvod, as well as Slavyanka-2000 LLC and Fishering Service LLC. 

It should be noted that such events are held in the Primorsky Region for the first time. This became possible due to the joint efforts of the organizations - members of the Pacific Consortium of Fisheries Organizations, without such support, these events would not take place. 

Summarizing the results of the Championship, we can already state the successful organization of the first event of such kind in history and the great interest among the competitors. The experts assessing the quality of the tasks performed were the teachers of the branches and employees of the fishery organizations - partners of the university. Based on the results of the Сhampionship data, the winners will be determined among the participants, who will receive well-deserved awards. Note that the WorldSkills Russia Сhampionship is being held in Primorye within the framework of the regional project "Young Professionals" of the national project "Education" designed to modernize professional education, including through the introduction of adaptive, practice-oriented and flexible educational programs.
